Your patience, Father

How many times have I cried for things
That would utterly destroy me?
How many times have You heard
Self-centered prayers from my lips?
O God of fire,
God of lovingkindness,
Your patience leaves me in repentance.

Jesus Christ
Hero of my story
Hero of every story
From Genesis to Revelation
O God, You are the only Hero
You are forever the only Hero

Who cares if our lives are in crumbles?
God is still the Hero
Isn’t Christianity about death?
Dying to self?
Why do we forget that we are called to die
Each day
Eternity is not here
Eternity is in glory with Christ
And make no mistake, daily
our patient God is solely focused on
carrying us into glory with Him.
The sky declare Your glory, Father
The trees declare Your glory
The animals follow Your every word.

Flesh of sin,
You are the only thing that
Rebels against its Creator
Our very breath listens to God’s word
It knows when to stop fueling our body
It knows when it’s time to go
Back to its Creator
Every breath is God’s
Isn’t that how we became living beings?
God breathed in our nostrils.

O God, thank You for Your patience
Thank You for being a covenant God
Father, since the beginning of time
I know, I know in my very bones
When You make a promise You see it through
You have seen our forefathers through
You have seen Abraham through
You have seen David through

Here in this moment
You are seeing Your Church through
You are seeing me through
And Your Word is our greatest comfort
You are our greatest comfort, Father
With my whole heart,
I repent for trusting broken vessels,
I repent for ever putting any trust in myself,
I repent for ever putting my trust
In anything besides You.

Each day You invite Your Church
To trust You
It’s a daily invitation to Your body,
The Church
But on the same coin it is also
A personal invitation.
I can hear Your invitation
In Your words to Abram,
“I am God Almighty;
Walk before Me, and be blameless.” Genesis 17:1
Father of patience
Father of lovingkindness
In the strength that You lavishly provide
I desire to walk before You
Is anything too hard for You?
Enable my frail body to walk before You.
For Your glory alone.
Mortify the sin in me, King Jesus
Help me, God. Please, help me.
Help us, as Your body
Holy Spirit, please fill us as we
Seek wholehearted obedience unto the Lord.

You are God Almighty
You are the God
Who walks with me in frailty
You are the God who doesn’t turn away
If I stay repentant every step of the way.
You are the God
Whose love casts out fear.
You are the God
Who is a consuming fire
And You burn away all stubbornness
You burn away all our impurities.
Father, I stand in Your confidence.
I stand boldly in Your righteousness.
And without a shadow of doubt I know this:
“I know you’ve cast my sin as far
As the east is from the west
And I stand before you now
As though I’ve never sinned…” East to West by Casting Crowns.

Psalm 8

The Lord’s glory and Man’s Dignity

O Lord, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
From the mouth of infants and nursing babes
You have established strength
Because of Your adversaries,
To make the enemy and the revengeful cease.
When I consider Your heavens,
The work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained;
What is man that You take thought of him?
Yet You have made him a little lower than God,
And You crown him with glory and majesty!
You make him to rule over
the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
All sheep and oxen,
And also the beasts of the field,
The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea,
Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth!
